World Cup Top FiveRoad to 2026
About

We rank everything World Cup. In fives.

World Cup Top Five is a football site dedicated to one of the most beautiful sporting events on the planet. Every story here is a ranked list — five players, five moments, five teams, five host cities — designed to spark a debate.

We launched our original site in 2022 ahead of the Qatar World Cup. For the 2026 edition — co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico — we rebuilt the site from the ground up with a faster, cleaner experience, and a much simpler way to publish new articles.

The 2026 World Cup at a glance

  • 48 teams — up from 32, a 50% expansion.
  • 3 host nations — USA, Canada, Mexico.
  • 16 host cities — from Vancouver to Monterrey.
  • 104 matches over a month of football.
  • Opening match: Estadio Azteca, Mexico City — June 11, 2026.
  • Final: MetLife Stadium, New York/New Jersey — July 19, 2026.
